DIY - Inspiration Photo Frames

Hello hello my lovelies!

At the start of the year I had planned so many things I wanted to do this year... as I plan every year... BUT this year I truly want to make it happen.
It's already 1 month down and I hadn't started much or done the things that I promised myself I would do, so I thought I'm going to go to the workshops that Kikki. K offer.
They offer a range of workshops like happiness, goals, organizing, DIY etc. They charge $40 but you get free gifts when you go along and these items are worth around $40 too... so your getting free stuff! So why not hey?
Well I was fairly skeptical about them at first, I went to the Happiness and Goals workshops and both of them were amazing! Made me feel extremely motivated and energetic plus I have a much better idea of how to set and accomplish my goals!
After the workshops and slowly implementing them, I've been on an inspiration high in the last few day and I decided to make some inspiration DIY frame which I could keep in my room - just make me feel that little bit inspired and motivated.
It's so easy to do and I'm extremely happy with how it turned out so I thought why not show it to everyone?

I got 3 of these frames from Kikki.k - cost me about $12.95 each. They already have a nice saying in there but I wanted something a little more colorful!

So I went with the Vision board kit from the new range called 'life is sweet'!

These are all the cute inspirational cards that are in the pack! Aren't they gorgeous?

All I did was pick out the 3 that I liked best and used some hot glue to stick them on the back side of the black card which was already in the frame - because the quote cards were just a little smaller than the frame itself and gave it a nice bold black background. I think it makes the cards I used stand out really well against the black background.

Finally all I did was pop them on my bookshelf in my room, and put these cute heart fairy lights I had for a long time and never used. It looks beautiful and I absolutely love how they have turned out!

I have a window right adjacent to my bookshelf which I open every morning and the sun shines onto these beautiful frames and the metal hearts! Just looks great :)

Why not try making something to liven up your room? or any part of the house? It might inspire you to do that thing that you've been wanting to do for so long!

I've just moved to a new house and I can see that I have a lot of potential for some DIY projects, so keep watching! Shall keep you all updated!

Hope you all have a lovely day!!

Bobbi Brown and Mac Lipstick Haul

Hello my lovelies!

I believe I am going just a little insane over lipsticks (I have about 25 now :O )
I got these a few weeks ago and I thought since I've started my little 'hauls' section why not chuck these in there too!

Ok, so today ladies I have some awesome products to show you guys!! I have been obssesing over MAC lipsticks and I now have 7 (YAY!) in my collection. I noticed though that most of my lipsticks are berry or pink colors I didn't really have anything neutral so I thought why not go check some out.

So I went into MAC and was having a look around when I spotted these thick pencils on the Bobbi Brown counter; I went ahead and checked those out too and well, I didn't own any Bobbi Brown products. Well... why not start with an awesome red lipstick - it's actually called an art stick.

Lets show you guys some pictures so you know what I'm talking about!

This is the packaging of the Bobbi Brown Art Stick

What I love about this is that it comes with the sharpener, which is great because these art sticks are pretty thick and I don't think it would be easy to buy a sharpener for these at some random store. Anyway, this is whats inside the little box!

Now what I love the most about this is that it is soooo creamy! It feels great on the skin - goes on absolutely smooth. You can use it as a lip liner or as a lipstick (I've used it as a lipstick and its looks gorgeous). It doesn't feel heavy or sticky on the lips and I found that it was a perfect red for me.

Swatch on my hand - the color looks a bit funny in the photo but its a deep red, the shade is called Harlow Red 07.

I just got this one randomly but I am seriously in love with this color and I can't wait to go back and get some more shades in these Art Sticks! Unfortunately though a little bit expensive :( - This was $44 - which is lot more than the MAC lipsticks.

Ok so yeah! I got 2 MAC lipsticks too...

Now that I look at these, the colors don't really look that different do they... hmmm?
But I have fairly dark lips and both these colors show up very differently on my lips.

The one of the left in the above pic is the Mocha - I believe this is matte lipstick (I'm not 100% sure sorry!). I am a fan of MAC lipsticks, they are great. The color is pigmented and what I really like about these is that you can build it up - so you can wear it as light or as heavy as you want and it looks great for skin tone!

Swatch on my hand - does look matte doesn't it? Its not really a nude but looks nude on me and I like it, you know sometimes you just want to put something neutral on and with dark skin (specially my Indian tone) I find the nude lipsticks completely wash out my face but these two look good!

This is Creme in your Coffee - its a cremesheen lipstick. I don't have many cremesheen lipsticks from MAC but I really enjoy this one. It really suits me and gives me that 'my lip but better' look. And again, you can build it up as much as you want on your lips it looks and feels good.

Swatch of the 'Creme in your coffee' - this one I find had a slight berry touch to it, still comes up as a neutral color on my lips if i put it on lightly but I can build it up and it gives me a vibrant look.

I really enjoy all three of these colors, specially the Harlow Red! I keep looking for excuses to wear it whenever I can, and works really well with my work look because I have to wear everything black and this pop of red on my lip just makes me feel AWESOME!

I love Mocha for a nude look - I think this is one of MAC's great lipsticks for darker skined girls because it doesn't wash you out and give your lip that natural look. The only think that I don't like is the shine in the 'creme in your coffee' - I know its a cremesheen lipstick it is going to have the shine and I guess Im more of a matte lip person so this one is a bit of change for me but I still enjoy it.

Well ladies, hope you had a great time reading! Go out and check these shades out and many more both with Bobbi Brown and MAC - Don't forget to 'Try it before you buy it!'

Kikki K Haul

Ohhhh Emm Geeee....!

Today I went into the Kikki.k store in Carousel (Perth) and there was so much stuff on sale which was unbelievable!
To begin with for those who don't know what Kikki.k is - well it is a fantastic store that sells awesome stationery, functional organizing tools and stylish gifts! The founder of the company is Swedish and the products are all designed around this simple and elegant yet colorful concept of a Swedish lifestyle!

Well today I went in there because I had a $25 gift card and I was just itching to spend it as always! I went in there and there was so much cool stuff and I saw the Svenska Hem range which they brought out sometime last year I believe.
With Kikki.k they have seasonal product ranges - so its there for a few months till the next new thing come's out and once it's gone I guess it's gone!

Just recently they had their new range come out, which is called "why not?" (will soon do a post about that as well :)) and that's why they have a lot of the previous ranges on sale.
But the Svenska Hem range - these items were 75% off! Can you believe that? I mean these products are amazing already and even initially they weren't really expensive and now with the 75% discount I'd be cray cray not to buy it!
To those of who don't know, Svenska Hem range is actually kitchenware products - they are just gorgeous!

This couldn't be better timing because I am moving houses and I decided it was out with the old and in with the new! so I grabbed most of their stock today.

Right - so below are the photos and I will mention the original price and the price after the discount just so you guys know what an amazing bargain that was! Lucky me :D

(I apologize in advance about the quality of these photos - had to use my phone as I have lost the charger for my canon camera! Also sorry blogger wouldn't allow me to put the photos side by side so had to put them below one another!)

This is my overall haul! cool huh? :P

1.Plate - I love the simple design of it the gold looks really good on the white background. Love it!
Original price was $12.95, which isn't that expensive to start with anyway! but the marked down price was only 50% off and they were actually 75% of so I got these for just over $3.00 - You can't say no to that!

\

2. The cup - I'm not sure if this was in the Svenska Hem range but they were for $2 each and they are actually fairly heavy when you hold them, so won't break easily (good for me - cause I drop everything!)
These didn't have a bar-code on them but they were marked as $2 - pretty cheap if you ask me! You can only get mugs for $2 at kmart or Reddot and we all know the crappy quality of those!

3. 14 cm large bowl - has a gold apple inside and the two gold lines on the outside.
Once again - simple, elegant look, also a little heavy which I love about these because I know a little slip in the sink while doing the dishes won't break it!
Original price is $12.95 - got these for just over $3 each.

4. 9.5 cm bowl set of two - again gold apple inside and the gold lines on the outside - just gorgeous! what else can I say about them? When I first looked at them from far away they looked tiny but then I picked these up and they are actually a pretty decent size. I would totally use these for deserts or even curry, just that perfect size where you can serve a good portion.

Original price was $14.95 and that came down to just over $3.50 but these were a set of 2 and still pretty awesome!

I obviously wanted to have a set of these, so i got 6 of each and all together the original price was $212.25 with all the discount the price came down to $62.06
I used my $25 gift card , so technically I ended up paying $37.06!
Now you know why I am so happy about it! hahaha

Ok! seriously you guys need to go and check out these stores! I mean I bet you, you will walk out with at least a wish list if not a whole bag full of the goodies!

Alright guys keep an eye out! I will be posting about the new "why not?" range soon plus my other SALE hauls from Kikki.k as well.

Why do YOU want to travel?

As a child I was an avid reader - I used to borrow books from the library every couple of days and like billions of kids worldwide I discovered the magical and enchanting world of Harry Potter.
I grew up reading the adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermoine - I didn't realize when I fell in love with that magical world and then and there I had decided -

"One day I'm going to London and live there!"

I had always loved travelling, discovering new places, new cultures, different languages and more than anything getting to know new people and their stories. I always knew I wanted to travel and experience this life as much as I can.

I got my chance in my 2nd year at uni - without thinking much (after convincing my parents for a year!) I applied for exchange at uni and put down a University in New York as my preference. In the following month my application was processed and everything was going well - but as it always happens, last minute I found out that the uni does not offer units for the course that I'm studying so I had to pick another university.
By that time applications for 90% of the universities had finished - and I had only one option Hertfordshire University, Hatfield UK!

As soon as I looked it up all i thought was - 'This is destiny! this was meant to happen'

Travelling is such an amazing experience, its one of those things you have to do in your life - there are no words to explain the feeling of accomplishment and pride you get!
Anyone who is considering an exchange, or just has been thinking of travelling to a different country - to you my friend, you are a step away from a life changing experience!

Do it! Do it! DO IT!

When I was begging my parents to let me do this exchange, I kept getting asked this question - "Why do you want to travel?"
Initially I could never give my parents a satisfactory answer, and one day I sat and really thought about what is it that really attracts me and makes me want to travel?

"I want to make memories all over the world, I want to meet people from different walks of life, I want to talk to them and know their stories, I want to explore these beautiful cities and countries for myself... hoping that while im doing this I discover myself!"

So today I leave you with a question

"Why do YOU want to travel?"

Travel?... Hell yeah!

So it's like 1:52 am and I'm so excited to start writing this blog!

OK! lets get started! last year I did a 6 month student exchange to London! While I was there - as we all do I traveled around Europe too
My overall experience was absolutely amazing! Any uni student reading this and is thinking about doing an exchange then STOP THINKING and go for it! It will change your life my friend...

So finally today I got time to start on this part of my blog which I've been wanting to do for such a long time yet putting it off - but no more! I actually have a lot of time now and I am now getting on to start my little DIY travel album. I kept a lot of things from my travel's as memories from like train tickets to souveniers and a lot of other thing. I just had them sitting in a box and I thought I can't just keep it locked up in a box I need to do something about it so I will be doing like my travel memories photo album (Will write a post about that too... soon!).

So well, I decided it was the right time to start writing about my adventure so here I am all ready to go!

I'm so excited about this... I have like 100 things planned to write about already and I can't wait to get started! I'm going to share lots of photos and stories with you guys, I really hope you all enjoy it just as much as I did travelling and especially now reflecting back on it and writing about it.

If there is anything you take away from this blog then let it be this one thing!

"An inspiration to travel! To discover a place, to get lost in a city and explore to your heart's content - not just a new place but a new you!"

Introducing myself!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to my blog :)

My name is Danni and im so excited to start this blog! Before I start writing about makeup (and other things off course) I would like to introduce myself.

I am young, carefree, down-to-earth and love to make the most of everything! I am extremely passionate about writing, I absolutely enjoy it. In the last few years I've started exploring the 'makeup world' and I've learnt a lot and I just want to share my experiences and help anyone out there like me.

As for my hobbies like anyone I love spending time with friends and family, travelling is huge passion of mine, I really like meeting new people and talking about their story, people truly intrigue and inspire me.
I am crazy about cool stationery (especially Kikki.k products! LOVE THEM!).

I wanted to write mainly about makeup and skincare but I thought why not add some more fun to this so I will be talking about a lot of different things! Travel, my shopping hauls, DIY projects, general random topics that I can think of maybe? LOL
Don't worry you won't get bored reading all this trust me!
I hope you guys will enjoy my posts and i'll enjoy the writing part :)

"You are what you eat!"
Hmm strange... I don't remember eating any sexy beasts today :P

Undertones?... uuuuhhhh Whaaaat!?

Undertones.... say what?

I know im doing a lot of 'other' posts before getting to the actual makeup part but trust me once you know all these things the makeup part will be so easy! I wish someone had explained me all these things before so it would have made my life a lot easier.

Before even starting using makeup obviously you have to buy it and when you look at all the options that are available to you, the brands, the different types of foundations, primers, lipstick... OMG! you will go nuts trying to figure out all these things so I'm just here to make that procedure a little easier and mainly to avoid all the mistakes that I did when I started out :( Although there is nothing wrong with making mistakes! That is actually how I learnt and I'm sure you will too! but hey these mistakes can cost a fortune, (yeap... learnt that one the hard way!) specially for you school girls and uni girls out there who don't necessarily have the luxury to spend all that money! Soooo here I am to your rescue :)

Today I just mainly want to talk about undertones! its a bit of a funny topic, I was really annoyed with this one because I went to a few different places and they all said different things to me (considering I have an Indian background so obviously I have a warm undertone, yet some people suggested I had neutral undertone  - I don't know what those people were thinking!)

I did plenty of research about it and watched a lot of YouTube videos to figure out what undertone I have - Sorry! Let me first tell you generally there are three undertones:

  • Warm - yellow/orange tones (generally darker tanned)
  • Neutral - combination of both; and
  • Cool - pinkish tone to your skin (generally pale to light)
There are plenty of ways to figure out your undertone but the there are two ways that I found the best!
First one is to check the color of your veins (look at your wrist or the temple area just next to your eyes) you should be looking for the color your veins.
If they look blue you are a cool undertone, If they look green or olive then your a warm undertone and if you can't decide then you're probably in the middle and a neutral undertone! ( Best of both worlds!)

The second which I find is really good is using gold or silver jewelry!
Just get two necklace's one gold and one silver - wear them and see what suits your skin! This is not a set in stone rule but I find that darker skin tones generally suit gold (which means you have a warm undertone) and lighter skin tones suit silver ( which means you have a cool undertone and obviously if both suit you then you have a neutral undertone!)
Keep in mind though that just because your a dark skinned girl and you like wearing silver jewelry does not mean your're a cool undertone.

While I was doing my research I came across a lot of articles and blog that tried to make it easy to define your undertone by saying if your from a western country then your a cool tone and Asian skin is a warm undertone - are you stupid? Like seriously! You can't generalize a nationalities skin tone cmon!
That's like me saying "oh yeah all Indian's have a warm undertone because that's my undertone and I'm from India" - ummm have you been to India? No? Well let me indulge with some basic knowledge.
India is such a huge country and my god you won't believe how the skin tone varies! Have you seen some of the north Indian people? Even I would have to second guess myself to decide if they really are Indian! because they are so white! Pale as a ghost; and as you gradually move down towards south India the skin tone darkens(not everyone! but as majority the skin tone is darker. So you can't just name a country and say "you guys! Yeah you up in Canada all of you are cool undertones and you guy's down there in Africa you're all warm OK?" - I'm sorry but that's just dumb.
Seriously annoy's the hell out of me! ... ok rant over! I swear :D but you get my point right? Every face, every skin tone is different - we are all different and that's what is so amazing about us because it makes each one of us special don't you think?

I've just talked about 2 of the ways to find your undertone but here is a video I came across which really helps and guys do go and check out her YouTube channel too! She has some amazing videos and they are short and to the point, reallllyyy helpful too!

Have a look at this video and subscribe too! Her videos are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

Alright see you guys soon! Lots of posts coming up, so keep an eye out!
